The island is a special place, it is where you can slow down and reconnect with yourself and loved ones. It's a place to stroll along the shore and search for the perfect shell or meander along a wooded path listening to the endless species of bird that reside here. Unlike the crowded beaches found elsewhere in the south, Dauphin Island has not changed much ... it is as if someone pushed the pause button somewhere in time.
THE BEACH
Located on the Gulf of Mexico, the island offers several public beach access areas to swim, sun and seek serenity. Golf Cart rentals are readily available and a great way to navigate the quiet streets. We provide beach chairs, towels and umbrellas to tote along.
THE BIRDS
The entire town of Dauphin Island is a bird sanctuary. Hop on one of the beach cruisers provided and explore the trails, parks and preserves dedicated to protecting these abundant and unique species. An Audubon Society Guide book is also available.
THE WATER
Endless waterways, inlets and desolate beach areas await your discovery! Hop on one of the stand up paddle boards or kayaks to become one with the water. Feeling adventuresome, rent a pontoon boat next door and explore the vast area the easy way.
THE EXPLORATION
Step back in time and discover historic Ft Gaines. board the Mobile Ferry across the bay to Ft McRae and Gulf Shores. Take a stroll through Bellingrath Gardens. Go antiquing. Learn about the local sea life at the aquarium. Eat mouthwatering local fare at any number of restaurants located on the island. Plenty of day trip options abound!
THE FISHING
Fishing is what Dauphin Island is most famous for. Bring your boat, rent a pontoon boat, grab a spot on a charter or try your hand tossing a line straight off the dock. Cook up your fresh catch on the gas grill as the sunset fades into the most spectacular watercolor background.
THE RELAXATION
The Dreamcatcher is all about relaxing. Go ahead, sleep in - then sip your morning coffee to the sights and sounds of pelicans diving for their breakfast.
